There
is
currently
1
post
within
the
Craniofacial
Surgery
Team
that
would
be
ideal
for
anyone
who
wishes
to
consolidate
their
training
in
a
specialist
paediatric
environment.
The
appointment
will
be
for
12
months
commencing
from
July
2020.
The
hospital
provides
a
comprehensive
range
of
paediatric
specialities
at
tertiary
care
level.
In
association
with
the
Institute
of
Child
Health
there
are
opportunities
for
research,
training
and
development
in
all
aspects
of
health
&
disease
in
children.
The
Craniofacial
Centre
is
a
Supra-regionally
funded
unit
within
the
Directorate
of
Surgery.
The
Unit
includes
a
multidisciplinary
team
responsible
for
the
care
and
treatment
of
children
with
craniofacial
conditions.
The
specialty
accepts
over
100
new
patients
a
year,
and
over
70
transcranial
procedures
are
performed.
Patients
are
admitted
to
plastic
surgery
and
neurosurgery
wards.
There
is
a
dedicated
craniofacial
operating
list.
The
Institute
of
Child
Health
is
the
medical
school
of
Great
Ormond
Street
Hospital
for
Children
NHS
Foundation
Trust
and
it
is
a
constituent
body
of
the
University
College
London
Medical
School.
Most
of
the
hospital
specialities
are
represented
by
respective
research
departments
in
the
Institute.
The
UK’s
only
academic
Biomedical
Research
Centre
(BRC)
specialising
in
paediatrics
is
a
collaboration
between
GOSH
and
UCL
Great
Ormond
Street
Institute
of
Child
Health.
We
are
a
member
of
University
College
London
(UCL)
Partners,
joining
UCL
with
a
number
of
other
hospitals
–
an
alliance
for
world-class
research
benefitting
patients.
In
partnership
with
six
other
NHS
trusts,
we
are
the
lead
provider
for
North
Thames
Genomics
Medicine
Centre,
part
of
the
national
100,000
Genomes
Project.
Clinical
training
will
be
regarded
as
a
priority.
In
addition
to
training
provided
in
clinics
and
ward
rounds
other
opportunities
will
be
provided
by
attendance
at
teaching
sessions.
There
is
an
induction
programme
for
junior
medical
staff.
The
purpose
of
the
Craniofacial
Fellow
post
is
to
provide
day-to-day
clinical
management
of
craniofacial
patients
(in
conjunction
with
other
team
members)
and
to
undertake
a
research
project.
Specific
Clinical
Responsibilities
and
Objectives
The
successful
candidate
will
be
involved
in:
The
inpatient
assessment
of
children
with
craniofacial
conditions.
Assisting
at
craniofacial
operating
lists.
Primary
responsibility
for
perioperative
care
of
these
patients.
Take
part
in
one
in
six
on
call
rotas
for
plastic
surgery
(there
is
no
Accident
and
Emergency
department
in
the
hospital).
Undertake
outpatient
clinics
as
appropriate.
