Gender Reassignment/Transgender Surgery

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Fellow, Gender Affirmation Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The fellow will work alongside the skilled faculty within the division as well as affiliated physician, Dr. Loren S. Schechter. The ideal candidate will possess strong academic and clinical credentials, excellent communication and organizational skills. The fellow will participate in the multidisciplinary team, as well as gain exposure to facial feminization and top and bottom surgery, including microvascular reconstruction. Clinical research, including publications and presentations at national and international meetings, is expected. The selected candidate will complete a non-accredited fellowship and will be appointed at the Instructor faculty rank. Candidates must be American Board of Plastic Surgery Board eligible, have authorization to work in the US, and have the ability to work at multiple sites. One Fellow will be selected for July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024. The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Medical Center is a rapidly growing program, which is academically focused, and comprised of a group of highly trained faculty with a broad range of clinical interests. The applicant will have access to a wealth of resources, including research support, advance practice providers, a craniofacial orthodontist, and other faculty within the Division and Medical Center with expertise in transgender health.
