Description
Have you considered all the uses for portable ultrasound as a plastic surgeon? You may not be aware, but there are many applications for portable ultrasound in your practice. Ensure anesthetic is injected in the proper plane during regional nerve blocks - PECS I Block, TAP Block, and SAP Block; confirm size, depth, and flow rate of perforators pre-operatively reducing the rate of flap failure; diagnose ruptured implants without the use of costly imaging. This interactive course will display all of these applications demonstrated through patient videos in conjunction with corresponding CPT codes and ultrasound images, including perforator mapping for: DIEP Flap, ALT Flap, TDAP Flap, LA Flap, MSAP Flap, and TFLP Flap. Learn the signs of broken implants with the use of portable ultrasound and typical patterns you may see to indicate rupture.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Identify different uses of ultrasound for the plastic surgeon in practice.
- Appraise the benefits and drawbacks of using ultrasound rather than other imaging modalities, giving real-time feedback.
- Apply the demonstrated technique for ultrasound to maximize benefits.
- Articulate the practice considerations of using ultrasound in one’s practice.
Don’t forget to claim your badge of completion from Acclaim when you finish the course!
